ROB LORIFICE
MEDALS AT ASIA X GAMES
Rob Lorifice stopped by Gotcha HQ to give us the lowdown on his trip to Shanghai for the Asia X Games, May 27-30. Rob got a personal invitation and made the most of it. He took down a bronze medal, scoring an 87 in the Mini Mega event by pulling a 360 over the gap to a 540 on the quarter pipe! Insane! He’s definitely skating in top form these days. When asked how it felt to medal, Rob gives one of his standard modest but confident answers, “I’m stoked every time.”
Rob had never been to China and reports that he wasn’t really game to try any local cuisine. He wasn’t sure how his body would react and thought he’d play it safe with a medal on the line. It may come as a surprise that the guys competing against each other on the deck are all pretty close friends. They live near each other, practicing together and travel to the same contests. During down time in Shanghai the riders spent time checking out the city.
Scoring two medals at last year’s Summer X Games, Rob will be going for the gold again this year and competing in three events - Vert, Big Air & the Big Air Rail Jam July 29 - August 3 in Los Angeles, CA. Rob is not giving away any secrets on what he is working on for this year’s event: “I’ve got something in mind, but don’t like to talk about it until I actually do it.”A rarity...a guy who talks only after he’s walked the walk. Tune in and watch for yourself – it’s truly amazing what he can do on four wheels and a piece of wood. |
